In 2016-2017, Jarochicanos organized two Fandango Tours throughout the United States. The purpose of the Fandango Tours were to challenge the concept of a “tour” by visiting different jaranero communities in the United States not to perform, but to learn about their histories, projects and visions, and explore ways in which we can work together and support each other as jaranero communities in the U.S. Each stop on the Fandango Tour consisted of a dialogue and was followed by a fandango. Although this musical tradition is our primary reason for convening, this tour was an opportunity to create something beyond the music. The exhibit consists of photographs, artifacts and audio installations to highlight the key points of each dialogue. We invite you to come to Chicago from August 10-13, 2017 to see the culmination of this work and to continue to build our relationships as jaranero communities in the U.S.
